My Artistic Philosophy Statement
LIFE - I believe that my art and my life are related and that they nurture one another. Dance, while requiring specific training in which I have accomplished, does not need to be elitist. Dance can engage with real life, and real life with dance.
FAITH - My faith shapes my art but not in a superficial way; it is reflected in my work, regardless if the theme is sacred or secular.
GROWTH - I am interested in digging deeper into the process of creation rather than merely being focused on the result or product. And while I can shape an end product of a dance that is pleasing for an audience, ultimately I want to be challenged and grow in my choreographic skills. I strive for excellence in my art form of dance.
COMMUNITY - I love projects and working alongside artistic community. I feel I still have much to offer with dance, though I am a mature artist, which is why I continue pursuing it. I have much to learn from others as well.
INVOLVEMENT - I am able to adapt my work to various settings and delve into work from abstract to that which is more mainstream. I have presented my works at festivals, churches, community events and also independent dance shows. I always want my work to be authentic, whatever the purpose.
